Breed Standard
The following is the breed standard for the Tonkinese.
The head is to be a slightly modified wedge shape
with high gently planed cheekbones. The muzzle is blunt and is as long as it is
wide and the chin should line up with the tip of the nose. The profile should be
a rise from the tip of the nose to the forehead with a slight break at eye
level. The ears are
medium sized with oval tips and broad at the base. The eyes are almond shaped
and aqua in colour. They are slanted along the cheek bones towards the ears.

The body should be
muscular and medium in size but surprisingly heavy. The legs are slim with the
hind legs slightly longer than the front legs. The tail should be proportionate
in length to body. The coat should have the mink coat pattern with medium to
short low laying fur. The mink coat pattern is an even body colour with
darker points gradually blending into the body. The points include the
ears, the mask on the face, the tail and the legs.

The mink body colour
should be an even colour, slightly lighter underneath. The mask, ears, feet, and
tail are all densely marked and blend gently into the body colour.
